OUR TEAM

Dr. Braxten McAdams
Dr. Braxten McAdams is originally from Frankton, Indiana. Animals were always fascinating to him growing up and his desire to care for them grew as he acquired experience working with, and befriending, every species he could. After school hours were spent volunteering at local dog shelters, caring for his goats and dogs at home, and even working at a baboon sanctuary. He knew veterinary medicine was his calling from an early age.
He pursued an expedited veterinary track and completed his prerequisite courses at Purdue University in just two years. Dr. McAdams then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and then his clinical year at the University of Florida.
He worked in Florida for over a year, but began to miss the people and lifestyle his home state of Indiana provided. After experiencing the clients, patients, staff, and atmosphere our clinic had to offer, he decided to stay in Indiana and become a member of our veterinary team. If you’re visiting our office, feel free to schedule an appointment with Dr. McAdams!

Dr. Veronica Busick
Dr. Busick spent the first part of her childhood in Florida, where she could often be found feeding and caring for the wildlife that wandered into her backyard. Tortoises, iguanas and anoles all found a tasty snack and a safe place to rest until they wandered off. That desire to care for animals led her to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Busick graduated from Purdue University with a degree in veterinary medicine in 2008 then went on to receive her credentials as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist in 2009. After graduation, Dr. Busick took a job at a fast paced 24 hour animal hospital in Iowa where she gained much experience in wellness care as well as working with emergencies and everything in between. She has continued to hone her skills so she can help the clients she sees at Kem Road Animal Hospital by helping their pets live long and healthy lives.
When Dr. Busick isn't working you can find her in her garden or chasing around the chickens, goats, sheep or cattle at her hobby farm.

Dr. Kiara Nobbe
Dr. Nobbe was born and raised in Southeast Indiana where she spent her childhood with horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, and chickens. She enjoyed showing horses in 4-H, competing in FFA contests, and participating in multiple clubs.
Dr. Nobbe found her passion for veterinary medicine by researching equine lameness and diseases as she encountered them while training her horse. She worked with veterinarians, farriers, and chiropractors to find a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Throughout high school and her undergraduate studies, she worked at a local small animal clinic that still had one small dairy client. Her favorite part of the job was assisting at the monthly herd check for the dairy which sparked her interest in ruminant medicine and reproduction.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee at Martin and continued her veterinary studies at Purdue University, earning her degree in veterinary medicine in 2025.
She is excited to provide a high standard of care for her patients to improve their life quality and longevity! When she is not tending to furry creatures, she spends time reading novels, trail riding, gardening, and hiking with her dog.

Roxanne
Roxanne’s love for animals started early, helping her godfather, a conservation officer, care for injured wildlife that he would bring home. She spent a lot of time after school and on weekends helping with their care, along with growing up with dogs. She later worked with the Peace River Wildlife Rescue team in Florida, helping care for aquatic birds and other wildlife. Roxanne truly enjoys meeting both pets and their owners and helping make their visits easier and more comfortable. She loves all breeds and has had a variety of pets over the years, including Chihuahuas, a cocker spaniel, Dachshunds, and now a pomsky and two cats. Outside of work, she enjoys feeding birds and wildlife, tending to plants and flowers, and spending time in her yard. Her experience with animals has been pretty unique, she’s worked with macaws in a bird hospital and has even owned skunks, raccoons, squirrels, and ducks. If she weren’t in veterinary medicine, she would have gone into nursing or respiratory therapy.

JoEllen
Joellen grew up with both indoor and outdoor cats that followed her everywhere and were a big part of her childhood. One of her favorites, Chief, was found by her grandfather under the hood of a Jeep Cherokee Chief. She found her way into veterinary medicine while searching for a vet for her own cat and came across the clinic’s website, where she saw they were hiring a receptionist. Trusting her gut, she applied, and it turned out to be exactly the right fit. She loves greeting clients and getting to meet all the dogs and cats that come through the clinic each day. At home, she has Zarra, her ragdoll cat, which is also her favorite breed. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and walking through all kinds of parks, from local to national. Her background with animals also includes helping care for llamas and a donkey, and if she weren’t in veterinary medicine, she would love to be a traveling photographer.

Laura K.
Laura’s love for animals really began when her dad brought home a full-grown Toy Fox Terrier that had been kept in a garage with little to no human interaction. She helped the dog adjust to being around people, and the dog eventually bonded closely with her, which left a lasting impact. She got into veterinary medicine simply by answering a help wanted ad, and it turned into something she truly enjoys. Laura loves talking with clients and getting to see all the different pets that come through the clinic. She has two dogs at home and especially loves Labrador Retrievers. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and crocheting. She’s also had some interesting animal experiences, including owning an axolotl and raising a squirrel before releasing it back into the wild. If she weren’t working, her dream would be to be retired and spend her time taking care of her grandchildren.
Sarah
Sarah grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, from outdoor cats and dogs to beef cattle, and spent a lot of her time outside helping care for them. She always thought she’d become a veterinarian, but after job shadowing, volunteering in clinics, and earning her Biology degree, she realized being a technician was the better fit and went on to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She really enjoys the hands-on side of her work, especially drawing blood and placing IV catheters. At home, she has a Pitbull/Lab/Boxer mix, a Mini Dachshund, and two orange tabby cats, her absolute favorite. Outside of work, she likes being outdoors, kayaking, and spending time with family. She’s also worked with some unique animals like hedgehogs and has even owned them, and if she weren’t in veterinary medicine, she’d love to work with sea otters.
